A little more about our tours
This focus is in response to a growing demand for reliable, informative, and above all environmentally friendly and culturally sensitive tours in the countryside by both the citizenry of South Africa as well as overseas guests to our gorgeous country. Our mission is to provide you with luxurious travel and experiential walking trails with exceptional heritage and history sites to enjoy.
In order to afford you the best possible attention every inch of the way while you are with us, we prefer small groups of between 6—10 people per tour.
We also facilitate private tours for couples and family groups of up to five or seven people per tour. In addition to group and private tours, we have the capacity to support larger parties in the case of university/tertiary or other education groups, corporate outings or general group tours.
At Alpine Ray, we believe that this focus in cultural tourism is still underdeveloped and our vision is to grow into being a market leader in the storytelling of our country's history and prehistory. Rather than entice our guests with catch-all offerings, we are focussed and confident with our offerings. Our focus is on a subject matter and areas that we know best. That is what makes us different: you will notice that too!
Although our primary focus at this stage is the northern Cederberg region, we provide tours anywhere in the Western, Northern and Southern Cape. We have also started taking tours into the most spectacular and less well-trodden portions of the northern savanna regions and the south-eastern mountains of South Africa and Lesotho. Should you wish to explore fully the Kruger National Park surroundings and other places of archeological and historical interest in the Limpopo province and the uKhahlamba - Drakensberg or Maloti ranges, we are just a call away to make your dream come true.
Our fairly small self-contained mini-buses have the latest features for your safety and comfort during travel. They are equipped with luxury and convenient features such as reclining seats with headrests, seat belts, front and rear air conditioning, a DVD player, stereo/CD player, and PA system.

Alpine ray is a metaphor encapsulated in our logo and our mission. It was inspired by the fynbos life cycles, where its red flames symbolise the spark of creative energy from fire or the sun that powers life forms. Plants, like the Iridaceae geophytes , are energized by burning and with water and ground nourishment they grow to support the food chain.
